The film “Smolensk” has a distributor for the US screenings in Chicago. I have made arrangements with him to have a copy of the film available for screening in Houston during the 19th HPFF, in early October. It was not the Polish Film Festival in America, a different distributor. Before the festival in Houston I learned that distributor had not had distribution rights anymore and the film Smolensk was temporarily pulled back form distribution in the US. There were screenings cancelled recently in Chicago as well.
The copy of the film Historia Roja was not available in time for our festival.
WE also couldn’t show film “Planeta singli” because the copy we received was not recognized by the server at the movie theatre, we had to substitute that film as well. Thank you for your interest in the Houston Polish Film Festival. Zbigniew Wojciechowski, Executive Director of the Festival.
We were sorry that the two films we most wanted to see were removed from the screenings. What were the reasons for their removal?
“Smolensk” has been removed from the list of films available for Houston by Polish Film Festival in America, main organizer and distributor for Houston Festival. “Historia Roja”, not confirmed/delivered on time had to be replaced with another available film.
Our sincere apology to all disappointed by this change!
