Houston Chronicle published Kyrie O’Connor’s article about the book we already know: Pete Hetherington’s Unvanquished: Joseph Pilsudski, Resurrected Poland and the Struggle for Eastern Europe.
Here are some of the many reasons Pete Hetherington should never have even attempted to write a biography of an early 20th-century Polish statesman: He’s a petroleum engineer, not a historian. He hadn’t taken an English class since high school. He couldn’t type. He didn’t know Word. He isn’t even Polish. He also has a family and a full-time job. But none of this daunted Hetherington, who is 55. “How hard could it be to write a book?” he asked himself at the time. (Ha!)
