Open Hearts – Art Exhibition

It is my great pleasure to invite you to an exhibition of paintings by artists, all of whom are patients of a psychiatric hospital in Warsaw, Poland.

A majority of these artists suffer from schizophrenia. Although an exact definition of this affliction still evades medical researchers, schizophrenia is classified as a severe disturbance of the brain’s functioning. It is a long-lasting disability characterized by social withdrawal, a lack of motivation, depression and blunted feelings, as well as delusions and thought disorder.

Some people lead relatively normal lives between episodes, while others find that they are very listless, depressed and unable to function well. The stigma of schizophrenia is a barrier to those trying to rehabilitate themselves and a very real problem for their families.

These artists have found some solace in their artistic expressions. Join us in admiring the beauty and purity of this unusual art, and connect with its creators. Open up your hearts to those who live different lives and desire to share their inner world with you.

On behalf of all the artists I would like to tell you how honored and grateful they feel for the opportunity to share with you their creations.
