This year Radio Courier Gala almost did not take place. Everybody's thoughts were with the Pope, John Paul II, and nobody would come to the ball, as it was planned. Waldemar Sokalski surprised the guests with the quick decision of turning this event into the tribute to the Pope. Polonia came united by the sadness, grief and desire of not being alone that evening, when the news about the death of Karol Wojtyla has reached the whole world.
Alina Klimaszewska, Andrzej Grabiec and Adam Golunski brought the music an the poetry to this evening. Others shared the memories about meeting John Paul lI. The event was not only saved, but turned into much needed evening of our faith, solidarity and unity.
