The Firemen of Manhattan

For remains of burned bodies
For streams of innocent blood
And for Firemen, who perished
Yet, saving life of others - they got

For victims of deranged hijackers
In Manhattan's hell - today
With Pope John Paul the Second
To you - Our Lord - we pray!

Long ago in Auschwitz, Father Kolbe
Gave his life to save the other man
Nameless Firefighters of New York
 - yesterday
With their lives for others - did pay!

In the dirt of Birkenau's ovens
Stacks of human bones are lying
In the rubbles of New York skyscrapers
Victims and rescuers
together were - dying!

Yet, In spite of this gloom and horror
We united will win hateful mob
We, the people of all colors,
religions and races
Will wipe out terror from this globe!

Strazakom Manhattanu

Za szczatki cial spalonych, krwi niewinnych strugi
Za Nowojorskich Strazaków,
co ratujac innych, zgineli - O Panie!
Modlimy sie z Papiezem Janem Pawlem Drugim
I za wszystkie ofiary Dantejskiego Piekla
- w Manhattanie!

Ongis w Oswiecimiu, Maksymilian Kolbe
Oddal zycie, by innego czlowieka - ocalic
Wczoraj bezimienni swieci
- strazacy Nowego Jorku
Wlasnym zyciem, innych zycie - oplacali !

Bieleja wsród piecow Brzezinki
Ludzkich kosci sterty niepojete
Wsrod zlomów stupietrowych wiezowców
New Yorku
Leza razem szczatki ofiar i ich ratowników - swiete.

Drogi Nasz Ojcze, Janie Pawle Drugi
Upros u Boga Ojca i Chrystusa Pana
Przebaczenie sprawcom piekla w Nowym Jorku
A zycie wieczne
bohaterskim strazakom Manhattanu!
