| This years festival
was a big turn out for the
little town of Bremond. There was great food, including
homemade pirogi and of course the famous Groholski sausage. The
parade went straight down Main Street with much excitement for
the people who live there. Polish pride was seen down the street and
in the windows with flags and signs all remembering the Polish
heritage of Bremond. As you walk down Main street ( which is only
about three blocks ) you will see old town buildings from the past,
some still in use and others closed long ago. There is a bar which
is the local hang out for most, crowded full and loud with laughter
and good times, across the street they are converting one of the old
buildings to be the Museum of Bremond. The side walks are full of
people coming and going and for some bumping into someone they have
not seen in years catching up on what has happened the past few
years. The one thing that the "old timers" miss and that includes my
aunt Natalie and uncle Carrol Bashinski is that there are few people
who still speak Polish in Bremond. I hope that next years festival
is even bigger and for the "old timers" more Polish speakers ( I am
working on it myself ). (...)
