Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele! Świętując jubileusz 25-lecia Polskiej Misji Pastoralnej w Houston pragnę serdecznie podziękować Parafianom i Polonii za wysiłek i ofiarę, które przyczyniły się do powstania pierwszego stałego duszpasterstwa w Houston. Wasz entuzjazm i niezachwiana wiara stały się fundamentem, na którym wzrastała i rozwijała się nasza Parafia. Ziarno wiary i miłości Ojczyzny wrzucone przez naszych rodaków w teksańską ziemie, zaowocowało już dużą posesją i pięknym nowym kościołem. Nadszedł teraz czas realizacji projektu nowej Sali Parafialnej, dedykowanej największemu z naszych rodaków, Ojcu Świetemu, Janowi Pawłowi II. Nowa Sala Parafialna stanowić będzie centrum życia kulturalnego, towarzyskiego i społecznego miejscowej Polonii. Będzie miejscem promowania wielowiekowej kultury polskiej osadzonej w tradycji katolickiej, a przejawiającej sie w nauce języka, w muzyce, w literaturze i innych dziedzinach twórczości. W nowej Sali Parafialnej znajdzie swe miejsce: • Polska Szkoła Sobotnia dla wszystkich dzieci kontynujacych naukę języka, religii i polskiej kultury • Biblioteka polskich różnorodnych książek, albumów, ze szczególnym uwzglęgnieniem dzieł Jana Pawla II-go • Duża wielofunkcyjna sala z możliwością przystosowania do bankietów, koncertów, spotkań organizacji polonjnych, prelekcji i przedstawień teatralnych • Wygodna kuchnia z pełnym wyposażeniem. Projekt ten to owoc długotrwałych dyskusji, przemyśleń i modlitwy. Komitet budowlany zawiązany został krótko po wybudowaniu kościoła w 2001 roku. Po przejęciu przeze mnie obowiązków duszpasterskich, dwa lata temu Rada Parafialna nakreśliła zadanie szybkiej realizacji budowy Sali Parafialnej. Po roku udało się nabyć potrzebny nowy obszar ziemi, a po dwóch latach mamy piękny projekt obejmujący całościowe zagospodarowanie naszego terenu parafialnego. Pan Bóg czyni wielkie rzeczy przez nas i teraz woła nas do tworzenia jeszcze większych dzieł w Jego imieniu. Umiłowanie kościoła i polskich tradycji, to dwa filary, na których ma sie wznosić, z Bożą pomocą, nowa budowla. Miejsce to na pewno przyczyni się do zachowania naszej tożsamości narodowej na emigracji. "Wierność korzeniom jest zawsze twórcza i rodzi piękne owoce" Wierni słowom Jana Pawla II, rozpoczynamy akcje mającą na celu budowanie nowej Sali Parafialnej. Z wielkim entuzjazmem przekazujemy wam plan Sali Parafialnej i broszure. Aby osiągnać nasz cel, potrzebujemy $800.000.00. Jest to 60% sumy, którą powinniśmy mieć w zapewnieniach finansowych, aby rozpocząć budowe. Nasz cel wymaga wspólnego wysiłku. Proszę was o hojny dar w imię waszych dzieci i przyszłych pokoleń Polaków oraz tych wszystkich, którym bliskie jest polskie dziedzictwo wiary i kultury. Dajcie tym wyraz troski o wspólne dobro Polonii. Zachęcajcie innych do uczynienia tego samego. Mając na wzgledzie różne możliwości finansowe rodzin, wiem, że nie każda może złożyć taką samą donacje. Rozważcie w sercu i w rodzinnym budżecie wielkość sumy i wspomóżcie naszą wspólną idee. Bądźmy wszyscy współtwórcami dzieła polonijnego, które powstanie przez nas i dla nas. Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, In this year, 2007, our parish is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary. It is a most joyful occasion. Some of you have been members of the parish since its inception and remember the difficult times at the beginning. In 1982, when Father Wojciech Baryski came to Houston, there was no parish, no mission church, no parish hall, and no parish community. Fr. Baryski celebrated Mass in a rented chapel, and later in a rented hall. When we look at the Our Lady of Czestochowa church on Blalock Road today, it is difficult to believe that our beginnings were so modest. It is indeed by the grace of God and the hard work of our parishioners that we came to be where we are today. I could, and perhaps I should, thank the many people who built this parish by name. But if I started to mention all the names, the list would be too long. Therefore, I have decided not to mention names. But do, please accept my heartfelt thanks for all that you have done to build a community, to erect a church, to maintain it, and thereby to serve God and each other. Today, with our beautiful church in sight, I would like to humbly ask you for another effort, one that will complete the task of building a Catholic parish on Blalock Road. I have in mind the project to build a parish hall and other facilities including a Saturday school, an easily accessible library, a kitchen, modern restrooms, a real parking lot and landscaping. As you recall, we had three proposals for the development of these facilities, and the parish and I chose the one that we, with great enthusiasm, presented to you. To start construction of these facilities will take a great deal of money as we need 60% of the final cost. Therefore, our goal is $800.000. In order to meet this goal, we must all consider major sacrifices so as to be able to give generously and we must encourage others to do likewise. Obviously, because resources and obligations vary, not every person or family can pledge the same amount. But all of our 400 parish family members can make the same sacrifice. Through the vision and shared sacrifice of each of us, we will realize our dream. I want to stress that this is not a question of giving a large sum of money all at once. The project of building the parish facilities is a long term project, and its completion will take a few years. The parishioners wish to start with classrooms for religious and language instruction, and this is what we intend to do. So, pledges can be stretched out and paid over few years. Naturally, I would like to complete this project as soon as possible. I am therefore asking you to be as generous as your circumstances permit. You and Fr. Jerzy Frydrych have built this magnificent church. I hope and pray that with God’s help, we together will build a parish hall that will be an extension of the church from an architectural standpoint, and will serve not only us but also the next generation and the next. I realize that some of you are not of Polish descent, or perhaps you have just a little Polish background. Those of you might therefore ask, “Why should I give money to complete the Our Lady of Czestochowa parish hall?” There are many answers to this question, but one of them I would like you to consider. It is that we are a traditional parish that tries to preserve Catholicism as it existed in the United States and the world, especially Poland, over the centuries. The internal decoration of our church, its architectural style, the abundance of flowers, our custom of praying the rosary or saying the litany before or after Mass, our devotion to St. Faustina Kowalska, the attention we pay to the teachings of John Paul the Second and now, Benedict the Sixteenth are all indicators that we are not out to change the Faith but to preserve it. I strongly believe that these features of our parish attract those Catholics who understand the importance of tradition and the wisdom of traditional Christianity. We shall try to preserve these features of our parish. If you value this style of faith and worship and do not wish for the Church to become just a social club, I believe you will feel at home in our parish and will generously contribute to its maintenance. I am therefore asking you to think about committing yourselves to a pledge, and pledging a certain amount of money when you are ready to make this commitment. Again, thank you for all you have done for the parish. Let us now start another chapter with a view to the fiftieth anniversary of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Some of us will not see it, but aren’t we all building something for future generations? Let it be this beautiful parish and its facilities. I will pray for you, and please pray for me, so that our plans will be successful and that our parish will continue to contribute positively to the diocese of Galveston-Houston and to our city.
