Hamilton Pool  ' one of Texas' most beautiful places'

Located 20 miles from Austin, Hamilton Pool features a natural pool and waterfall.  It was formed when the roof of a cavern collapsed.  Some of its outstanding features are a 50 foot waterfall, which spills into a deep, jade-green pool, scenic Hamilton Creek, nature trails, and large diversity of plants and animals.

It has been a popular swimming hole for many years. You can still swim there unless there are high concentrations of bacteria from the cattle that graze upstream.

You can call ahead to see if it is safe to swim. Even if you can't, it's well worth the visit.  No drinking water available; no pets, glass containers, fires or cooking allowed.

Directions:  Take Texas 71 west of Austin approximately 16 miles to F.M. 3238, south 13 miles. For additional information call 512-264-2740.
