The Mirror

I stand in front of my mirror,
The mirror in which I've looked most of my life.
When I was little and could barely see myself in it,
When I tried to put on make up for the first time...
Those are memories that are hard to forget.
A school dance....
A Christmas party....
This one mirror saw it all.
It's old and chipped here and there but something
about this mirror makes it special,
Maybe it's the memories that it's seen,
Maybe it's the moments that it's reflected....
But something makes me want to keep it for my kids,
For their memories and moments for this mirror to reflect.
It may just be a mirror to others,
But to me it's a looking glass...
One that has helped me look into my past.
