TheDuo – Dominika Dancewicz, violin and Donald Doucet, piano present their “Beethoven Meets the Czechs” concert at the Cullen Hall of the University of St.Thomas.

on Saturday, February 13 at 7.30PM.  The event is FREE and open to the public.

For the lack of better ideas unassumingly calling ourselves TheDuo (Dominika Dancewicz, violin and Donald Doucet, piano) we present an exciting program of music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Josef Suk and Antonin Dvořak. Also on the program the famous Rag by William Bolcom “The Graceful Ghost”.

The program contrasts the stern, dramatic Sonata No.7 in C minor by Beethoven with the music of the two Czech composers that is full of flair and national folk idiom. The excellent “Four Pieces” by Josef Suk present advanced harmonic language, folksy melodic structures and great stylistic diversity, while the concise Sonatina by Antonin Dvořak is a tour-de-force of vitality, folk dance and color.

The concert is free and open to the public. The artists will accept donations.
